“ One of the original few restaurants in NYC serving authentic Hong Kong dishes, HK teas, and items run/owned by Hong Kongers - Anna and her husband feed us for well over 10+ years before all the new Hong Kong cafes/restaurants opening up the last few years. The food, snacks, teas, desserts, as well as Anna and crew will be missed but I am sure they will enjoy their retirement. “ Update in 2024: Their last day of opening is November 13, 2024. Another long-standing, local restaurant going away, this place sells no frills Hong Kong cafe style foods. Certain things are usually good like Hong Kong french toast, fresh tomato baked rice. Everything is served on food court-style plating. It's a restaurant that is loved by locals. Pickups are generally on time. No issue with dine-in service. ”

“ This place isn't very big. It's more ideal for 2-4 people. We had to take 3 large tables and put it together to fit a large party of 9. They are very old-school here with the chef bringing out the food on warped trays. The food reminds me of my childhood. Sadly, they don't do baked tomato cheese spaghettis here. I will say the curry fishballs were good. Very bouncy, hot, and absorbed the curry flavor. The HK style tea with milk was good and strong. The french toast condensed milk and peanut butter was good (keep in mind the french toast is different from the sandwich option). The red bean ice is something I haven't had in years so it was really nice to have that again. The chicken tomato sauce spagetti was very sweet and saucy. I would totally bring it home, add cheese, and bake it. This was definitely something I had as a kid. The fries were very blah and I would skip it next time. The minced pork noodle soup with veggies and egg was really good. I enjoyed the thin noodles it came with. Overall, it's good for a breakfast and I'd come back again and do take-out to try more items off their menu. ”

“ My parent love the red bean drinks. The spaghetti with mixed meat tastes similar like the one from Hong Kong. The beef with thick noodle tastes ok according to my father. So far this place is fine ”

“ My folks grew up on Hong Kong Cantonese style breakfast, so when they want comfort food, it's what they want. New Forest has been around through several iterations and chefs, but we stopped in for in-person dining. Got a bunch of their set meals. I went with the fish fillet, which came with buttered toast, scrambled eggs, and a hot drink. My folks got macaroni soups and egg sandwiches. Before we left, we also got some lunch to go. Ordered what was advertised as a red wine sauce beef, but it really tasted more like ketchup. Oh well, still ate most of it. Staff is nice. They seem to do a lot of takeout/delivery orders, so be patient with them! No bathroom though. ”
